InnerVoice

I believe in the generative power of generosity. And I know we all have something to give and that when we share our gifts, it’s like a tree growing – a generosity tree.

That is why I’ve created InnerVoice.

Like an invoice, it acknowledges the work we’ve done together. But unlike an invoice, which pays me back for my service, an InnerVoice is about paying it forward. It is a special kind of sharing...

This is how I suggest the gift economy, in which the currencies are generosity and gratitude, could work in practice:

  1. You contact me and we discuss how you think I may be able to help you.
  2. We agree that, in due course, I will send you an InnerVoice. We will confirm that agreement in writing.
  3. When our work together is complete, I will ask you to choose an InnerVoice design (what you see here are the first iterations and we may well create more). I will write a brief outline of the help I’ve given you, as I would do when preparing an invoice.
  4. I post (snail mail) you a completed InnerVoice printed in hardcopy, so you don’t have to print it out. It will be a physical reminder of what I have given and our work together.
  5. From then on, it’s up to you. If you feel a sense of gratitude and would like to be generous, I imagine you will want to help somebody sometime – you pass the gift forward. Although there is no obligation to tell me what you have done, I would certainly be pleased to hear from you.

That’s it. The imaginary Generosity Tree grows, nourished by gratitude.
